This Cape Verdean artist has already four records in his career. He is a singer from the Mora movement, which expresses, through a rhythmic tuned voice, rage, sadness, joy (and love, of course !), in the great Portuguese cultural tradition.
Boy ge’s voice qualities are enough to congratulate him, it elevates and seduces you. You can hear him smiling while he sings, coming with sonorities offered by all those instruments, marvellously fitting to his voice tune. There are quietly, lively and dancing rhythms. You are immediately invited at the party and, track after track, your head is having a swing.
There also are the few melancholic ballads, the expression of the very enigmatic “Saodade” (untranslatable word, says anyone who speaks portuguese) : the feelings touch you but doesn’t breach your deep interior.
If you don’t know it yet, latin music and fados lovers, blow your mind with the liveliness and the rhythms of this man’s piece of art…from this Cape Verde we don’t know so well. Boy ge Mendes' Web Site : clic here |
